Re: Mac or Windows?

Running the SDR in a virtualised Windoze on the Mac puts enormous strain on the CPU. Feel the case get hot and hear the CPU fan spin and you'll quickly decide you don't want to fry your expensive Mac just for some fun with a radio. Ralf DL9KCG I am surprise you found the VM was putting so much stra...

Re: New, happy user

Tony, The great thing about the RSP is there are several software packages to choose from and you can pick the one you feel comfortable with and does the job you want. A few comments... - SDruno is the only software that accurately measure the signal level at the antenna input. It is accurate to +/-...

Re: Which SDRplay do I buy?

I would suggest that you purchase an RSP1A if you intend to use it mainly as a panadapter with your 991A. You will need an external SDR switch if you want to do this because the 991A does not have an IF output port. There are several manufacturers of SDR switches and if you search on this forum you ...

Re: Mac or Windows?

I would use Windows software because you have a lot of choices: SDRuno, HDSDR and SDR-Console V3. All three are free and very good. You can use the one that has the user interface and features that work for you. I find that I use all three depending on what I want to listen to or record. If you want...

Re: Near field to transmission antenna

You can easily exceed the safe level (+10 dBm) for the front end of your RSP when your transmit and receive antenna are both located on a small residential lot. What you need is an RF limiter or SDR switch. If you search this forum you will find lots of discussions on both of these devices. There ar...

Re: UNO v 1.23.1 strange behaviour

Why use SDRuno 1.21? The latest version for RSP1 is 1.22.

Re: Convince me to stay with SDRPlay (or the opposite)

80-90% of my time i use the SDR as panadapter for my HF radio and i mainly explore the HF amateur bands. Occasionally i do a spectrum sweep, just for fun and just because i can. For your application I would recommend an RSP1A. It is a very good performer on HF and has more filters than the RSP2. It...

Re: RSPduo and HDSDR

Right now the RSPduo is only supported by SDRuno. SDRplay announced a while ago that they were currently working on a new EXTIO.dll so that the RSPduo would work with HDSDR and other apps that need the dll. No release date has been announced. SDR Console V3.02 support for RSPduo is currently in beta...
