Re: Anyone ? - An SDRplay Radio Used As The Core Module

IQbert said : "double-din car radios" I am really out-of-date .... I had to go look-and-see what that meant ... :) This : https://www.soundzgood2me.com/car-audio-terms/ explained that 'Double DIN' means a radio faceplate that is 8 inches wide and 4 inches high. (I knew about DIN connectors...

Anyone ? - An SDRplay Radio Used As The Core Module

( I'm having difficulty putting this into words .... please be patient. ) ( What's got me wondering about this .... ) - I have an SDRplay Receiver and use it with SDRuno Software - they are very impressive. - But ... It seems to me that the receiver module could be used as the core of a more . compr...

Re: VFO & LO for dummies

Mike; Thanks much for the comments. Just in the last bit I've come across some things : - article from this group from over a year ago : http://www.sdrplay.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=1431 - and here is something : https://www.dsprelated.com/thread/567/zero-if-vs-low-if-receivers which led me to t...

Re: VFO & LO for dummies

Hello SDRplay Support; I understand that in Zero IF Mode, when I select a frequency, up pops the spectral display with the LO (and received frequency) at the middle of the screen (with a band of frequencies shown above-and-below the center frequency). My question is .... are there any benefits in us...

Re: VFO & LO for dummies

(I apologize in advance if I'm 'missing' something.) Hello SDRplay support .... I'm not sure that you answered this so I'll try again : ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What if I'm in Zero IF Mode and (to listen to the 4...

Re: VFO & LO for dummies

(I don't mean to hijack this thread ... this is the closest discussion I've found that seems to potentially be discussing something thats got me puzzled.) SDRplay support said : "Note that there are 2 ways that the spectrum can be produced from the hardware (Zero IF and Low IF) - Zero IF suppor...

Excellent Technical Support

I was going-around-in-circles with my RSP1A Receiver (see my tale-of-woe here : https://www.sdrplay.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3000) and then I sent in a request for assistance to the SDRplay Support Helpdesk Team. Steve Brightman, who is located only a few miles from me (so we can both ...

A Hi-Z Antenna Input For The RSP1A Receiver

For those of us with the RSP1A Receiver (I was intrigued by it having a 14-bit A/D) .... we don't have the Hi-Z antenna input that the RSP2 Receiver provides. Here is a part which looks like it might be useful : http://www.nooelec.com/store/balun-one-nine.html (a .jpg image is being uploaded showing...

Re: HF pre-selector

Dear Captain Nemo (may I please get a ride on the Nautilus sometime ?); A long time ago the ARRL Handbook had a 'regenerative preselector' for the HF bands. Given the era (1960s) it was based on vacuum tube technology but still .... a very interesting idea .... (as a regenerative amplifier is brough...

Re: Does SDRuno Software Allow For Continuous Tuning ?

It's 'fixed'. (And now 'the rest of the story' ..... Is anyone out there old enough to remember the Paul Harvey radio shows ?) After incredible support by my (friendly) local SDR repair guy (I'll let him retain his anonymity) .... What finally got my installation of SDRuno working correctly was to g...
