Re: Current draw from SDRduo when plugged into USB port

Hey guys, How can I measure the current drawn by a USB? I've seen a thread (on WindowsSecrets forum I guess) where the guys recommend a multimeter and a hacked up cable to measure the actual USB current. Though I think there should be an easier solution. There are many cheap devices you can insert ...

Re: Splitter for RSP1A

Hello Bob, It is very easy to build a resistive splitter. A few resistors and SMA-connectors. Or buy one for a few dollars from one of the chinese stores. You get a few dB loss but that doesnt care. I build a divider myself to distribute the signal of my active antenna to several receivers. Wolfgang

Re: Discone Antenna

I use an ICOM AH-8000 discone. It works very well as a receiving antenna for my RSPs. It is also used for transmitting on 2m and 70cm (50W). Just for fun I connected my 100mW WSPR TX (Ultimate 3) to this discone and got reports from VK5. One advantage may be that this discone is made of stainless st...

Re: RSP1A Bias -T

Yes, there is a component you can remove - its an inductor on the pcb near the antenna plug. You remove it on your own risk. Your warranty will be void. You can also use an external DC-block, a capacitor in series (depending on your lowest frequency 100nF-470nF, ceramic). Imho there is no circuit dr...

Re: Noise

The best thing you can do is to put the PLC adapter into the trashcan. These kind of adapters belong to the worst noise generators I know. Powerlines are made for power and not for data transmission. They radiate the PLC-signal which disturbes your reception.
Replace them by WLAN or cable.

Re: Antenna A and B mixup on RSP 2

Hello Ambrose,

Did you terminate Input A with 50 Ohms or did you leave it open?
Imho there is some (weak) internal coupling between the ports.

Re: SDRUno 1.2 issues

Hello SDRplay - Team, Concerning the calibration issue: The calibration value (here: -0,441 ppm) is stored in Main Settings "Crystal Calibration". The value is right and not changed by the bug. After "Stop" / "Play" the value is ignored. The status of "LO LOCK" seems to have no effect. But I use "LO...

Listen to meteors, the moon and satellites

The RSP2 is a very sensitive VHF-receiver. Using the signals of the GRAVES RADAR near Dijon (France) on 143.050 (CW BW=750 or more) you can easily receive the echoes from meteors or even the moon. I live about 450km away from the radar station and receive the signals with the RSP2 (GR:38dB, MW/FM-Fi...

Re: SDRUno 1.2 issues

Maybe another small bug:
The value of "Crystal Calibration" is ignored if you "Stop" and "Play" again.
The value is still there but you have to select the value and press "Enter". After that the calibration-value is effective again.
