Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5
Well, I have not firmly decided with way to go yet - as I am now using a simple RG8 feedline into the shack, I am keen to try a LMR-400 feedline, and check that performance, then I may get around to (in good old science-experiment fashion) installing an active extended-USB setup for comparison purpo...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5
It seems that I may end up spending about the same $$ for an active USB extender installation to support the remote RSP, vs just simply running LMR-400 coax cable into the shack from the base of the longwire antenna, and keeping the RSP near the PC.... indeed a much simpler/more reliable install, an...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5
This 150m CAT5/6 extender appears to have appropriate features/specs - USB 2.0 up to 480mbps claimed: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FHTCH68/?coliid=IJG4H2WWZ7VEO&colid=2UJH1RMI7B119&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it - I may give it a try for my ~35m separation from the radio room out to the antenna base via...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5
Thanks glovisol! The more I consider the question of struggling to find a pure USB-based solution using some sort of "snake oil" collection of repeaters, extenders, etc to deliver what is essentially a continuous full-duplex data stream across 100 ft at >12mbps, I think I may find a more legitimate ...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5
The RSP - PC connection must pass thru underground conduit between the house and the antenna, so I cannot stack several shorter sections with their "repeater" modules attached - rather must have one long cable. The usbgear tech support people say that this cable http://www.usbgear.com/USBG-100X/usb2...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5
Yes glovisol, that is exactly what I want to do, to locate the RSP out at the antenna itself, away from the main house and its myriad electrical noise sources. Certainly, an active USB cable with power capability would be a cleaner solution than the Ethernet cable adapters and separate external dc p...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5
Thanks Roger - I have found several USB-Ethernet adapters that claim among their features: "Hi-Speed USB 2.0 compliant, with support for data transfer rates up to 480 Mbps..." The trouble, I don't know how much faith to place in the words "up to" in that featured item...

Remote RSP via USB/CAT5
Firstly, allow me to introduce myself as a new RSP2 user, just still learning some of all the functionality this neat little box brings into my radio room. I have searched thru the forum content but cannot find reports (good or bad) that clearly discuss what I am considering for a remote RSP install...
