Re: RSP-1 as a bat receiver?

I was hoping that a tweeter of some sort might do the trick but they aren't designed to operate at those frequencies so its a bit hopeful. Maybe the really old ultrasonic units work better, ie less narrow-band. I think I have a pair somewhere unless they got culled in the recent 'retire and tidy up ...

Best budget tablet?

I'm thinking of buying a Win10 tablet for two purposes, one running Minitourne (the MiniTiouner USB receiver uses free to download DVB-S receive and analysis software called "Minitioune" written by F6DZP) and second my RSP-1 which I use for Weather satellite decoding. For this I'm using a very old c...

RSP-1 as a bat receiver?

My wife and I went on a bat walk last night and were lent a simple bat RX that tuned from 20KHz to over 100KHz. Inevitable I thought I'd try this, realising that my RSP will receive down to 10KHz. Has anyone any advice on what to use as an aerial? I'm thinking ultrasonic transducer, piezo tweeter fr...

Bandwidth, selectivity and gain

I'm mostly using my SDRplay(s) (one at home, one at work) for WXSAT reception where, in the UK, we are plagued by HUGE pager signals at 138.000 MHz. So based on the barn door principle I use the narrowest IF bandwidth (200KHz)and until the recent (todays 12/7/16) software upgrade I selected 1MHz sam...

Reduced bandwidth DTV?

As well as enjoying the excellent performance of the SDRplay for receiving weather satellites on 137MHz I'm interested in Amateur TV. More recently in place of Analogue TV there is a growing interest in reduced bandwidth Digital TV. Given the original purpose of RTL-esq dongles was that of receiving...
