Re: Acronym Glossaries-Please add until there are no undefined Acrnymd

DEC = decimation SR =? maybe left out a letter? SR = signal report, SNR= signal to noise ratio, SDR= software defined radio there are some acronyms that get re-used depending on what technology you are talking about: USB = upper sideband (radio), universal serial bus (computers) LSB = lower sideband...

Re: New open source mirics driver

how do i build this and specify the particular version of libusb to use? ever since i installed the latest API (2.09), i am limited to 2Mhz sample rate on both the RSP1 and RSP2, and the RSP2 has a fixed 0.200Mhz baseband filter (no matter what settings i use in gqrx or gnuradio). if i go over 2Mhz ...

using an MFJ multiband whip with a low profile ground "radial"

i've been looking for a low profile antenna system for HF. i live in an apartment building and HF antennas are a bit problematic because of the large lengths of wire required. so i've been searching for something that's an ok antenna (doesn't have to be perfect, but has to be better than a dipole ma...

gqrx tips (mostly)

after a couple months playing around with the sdrplay and mostly gqrx, here's a few things i have found that might benefit new users. first, for most of this i was using a sample rate of 2Mhz, and a bandwidth of 1Mhz which is the default in gqrx images... there have been a few times i have found ima...

Re: Using SDRPlay as RFI Finder

i just used my SDRplay to identify a noisy SMPS in my apartment.... turns out it's the charger brick for my 2 meter HT.... i was running a 10 hour waterfall of the digi portion of 20 meters (14000-14150 khz), and i noticed on the waterfall that one of the annoying noise sources i've been putting up ...

"birdies"... how to minimize them

i've been noticing that there are often "birdies" showing up on the display. for anyone who doesn't know what this is, it shows up as spikes on the display, and dead (or regularly pulsing) carriers at the frequency of the spike. this is not to be confused with external spikes from noise so...

audio latency issue with gqrx resolved

.... although i wish there were a more straightforward solution... while trying to receive weather faxes using my SDRplay gqrx, and fldigi, i was having audio latency problems that would shift the sync randomly, resulting in a scrambled picture. however, recording the audio with gqrx's recording fun...

Re: using SDRplay on a 32 bit os

tnx... i got a copy of Skywave Linux (which is 64 bit Ubuntu) and installed it on an external drive. i got the API and all the Soapy stuff installed and working properly. i tried CubicSDR, but it has very serious memory leak issues, but was at least able to verify the radio works. got gr-osmocom ins...

using SDRplay on a 32 bit os

first of all, running Slackware 14.1 (32 bit) on a quad core intel machine 3.5Ghz i5 cpu 4G ram i tried downloading the api, installing soapysdr and soapysdrplay, as well as gr-osmocom. when trying to run a test in gnuradio, i keep getting errors that there is no source device connected. saw some er...

Re: WiFi with SDR at 470 MHz

470Mhz is in the TV band. in the US, it's also been designated as "whitespace", which means it can be used for secondary purposes. one of those is for data. but there are some rules for data use.... 1) no more than 4 watts ERP, 2) must use the channel width of 6Mhz (which means wifi device...
