Re: HDSDR, Omnirig and 3 radios

I think the best way would be to ask Alex Shovkoplyas if he is willing to release an official 3-receiver version of Omnirig. Then all software authors could update to a standardised API interface. It makes no sense IMHO for the HDSDR authors to adapt their code for an Omnirig version which only exis...

Re: SDRplay as panadapter on SHF bands

I am afraid this problem can only be solved when all involved softwares transfer their frequency number formats from signed 32bit integers to unsigned 32bit or better 64bit numbers. This problem is present in many softwares. The signed 32bit value overflows to negative when it exceeds 2147483647 and...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip

from my serviceable (switched) 12v/1200ma half-brick to the 13.8V/5-7Amp more sophisticated unit? Generally switched PS are not very much loved by radio amateurs. They cause high RF noise which is spreading all over the power lines in the house and beyond. I have several neighbours in appr. 80 m di...

Re: interference problems

Hm, I only can imagine that the RSP and the scanner use the same USB hub and that the overal USB bandwidth is a bottleneck. When the RSP is receiving it "steals" USB bandwidth and the scanner software cannot retrieve enough data in a given timeslot. Also possible could be that the CPU powe...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip

the RA0SMS mini-whip is now mounted on an 8M non-conductive mast with the coax grounded Hi Paul, that's how it is recommended. Quote of PA3FWM (the creator of the famous Twente WebSDR) on "Grounding of MiniWhip and other active whip antennas": What can be done to improve the situation? Fi...

Re: interference problems

Is the scanner connected to the same computer as the RSP?
When does scanning go wrong? When the RSP is just plugged to the USB or when SDRuno is running and receiving?

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip

Paul, with a power consumption of 100 ... 150 mA nothing should overheat. Either you have a (sporadic or permanent) short circuit or an interruption on the power supply line somewhere or there is indeed something wrong in the whip. Do you have an Amp/Ohm/Voltmeter to make measurements on the equipme...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip

Heinrich - I've just checked the noise on the Antenna B input with the bias-T enabled/disabled. I can detect nothing, even with the scope on 5mV with a x1 probe. Clean as a whistle. Of course, this may just mean my particular laptop is clean! OK, that's better than the Funcube. I just fetched my Fu...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip

A question in this context (I do not own an RSP2): Is the bias T voltage of the RSP2 "clean"? I have a Funcube pro+ and it's bias T is a horror. It can only (if ever) be used for VHF and above. Below is carries extreme USB noise and noise from the 5 V USB line. I have applied extra SMD cap...

Re: RSP2 LO 3rd harmonic spurious response only -20dBC

I think what Juha wanted to say is that they shoud have provided low pass filters behind the LO. My opinion: When someone expects high standards of a spectrum analyzer or monitoring receiver shouldn't he go better for a Rhode & Schwarz FSW8/FSW13 https://www.rohde-schwarz.com/us/product/fsw-prod...
