Re: SDR/Uno Won't Use VSC

The wording "VSC" is normally only used by WiNRADiO for their special branded VAC. I tried to route sound into the WiNRADiO VSC and make a recording with audacity both with SDRuno and HDSDR on the VSC output. Both applications do not work! The WiNRADiO VSC is a "married" (branded...

Re: SDRplay Notebook interference

getting rid of noise and lowering the rx noise floor sometimes becomes a never ending quest. That's true, Phil. As long as the noise is produced by ourselves we can do something against it. Shielding, grounding, common mode baluns, power line filters ... But the problem worldwide is more and more t...

Re: SDRplay Notebook interference

Have you connected the shield of the coax adapter to ground? Try a 9/1 balun at the RSP input. Coax shield of course grounded. In general laptop power supplies are very stubborn. They produce high noise levels and are almost impossible to de-noise. Place the antenna as far away from the laptop as po...

Re: DRM reception with SDRPlay and SDRUno

Well Paul, every SDR software has its particularities. Some like this feature, some like that. An advantage of SoDiRa is certainly the good DRM decoder for which you do not need extra software, Virtual Audio Cables or copyright protected codecs.

Re: DRM reception with SDRPlay and SDRUno

Paul, ExtIO is a pretty much standardised interface. As long as the dlls have no bugs SoDiRa works with any ExtIO dll. I cannot swear that it works with the RSP 2 because I do not have an RSP 2. But I am sure you will have no problems.

Re: DRM reception with SDRPlay and SDRUno

Also consider: Select VB Cable output as a signal input source in soundcard selection of Dream. Select your loudspeaker under audio output of Dream. Be careful not to mix up the soundcards here. Otherwise a loopback may occur and Dream listens to it's own output which makes decoding impossible. Both...

Re: RA0SMS active mini-whip power supply

is there possibly a difference between your power supplies in a way that one 'passes' the ground to the mini-whip power adaptor, and the other doesn't? I also have already thought of such a scenario. But Paul's bias T has an isolating transformer in the RF path. This should reduce the influence of ...

Re: RA0SMS active mini-whip power supply

just a bit puzzled. Me too, Paul. The linear PSU should not have an influence on the signals. Difficult to say, why it has. But I wouldn't worry. If your switched PSU is OK then use it. Yes, I know the trouble with the "overhead" power lines. I do not have high voltage lines here, but our...

Re: RA0SMS active mini-whip power supply

Hi Paul, I can't explain. Normally there should be no such difference, except that the "bench" PSU should create no noise (if it's linear). What is the difference you noticed? More noise? Weaker signals? More "ghost" signals (intermodulation)? What brand/type is the "bench&q...

Re: rsp1 drivers

I am not sure if I understood what you did, Ross.
rtl1090 is for RTL dongles. I did not know that rtl1090 supports RSP now.
Shouldn't you use dump1090 which has RSP support?
Could it be (just a guess) that you ran Zadig and inadvertently installed the RTL drivers for the RSP USB device?
