Re: Can you use the SDRPlay2 as a pan adapter?

Hi James, The answer is yes. Just remember 0dBm max at the input of the RSP. I'm not familiar with the TS-870 but I imagine at worst you could tap off some of the IF or use an external antenna switch. There is plenty of info in this group. I did a search for Panadapter and got 132 hits. http://www.s...

Re: Automated Field Strength Measurements

Hi Stereo100, Sorry for not answering your question directly. If you are the support person for these stations then I recommend you try Radio Mobile . If you have the TX details (PWR, antenna height, feedline loss) it will plot a very accurate coverage map of the terrain surrounding the site. The pl...

Re: Best gauge of wire

The most important thing about wire gauge for a receiving antenna is to ensure it strong enough to survive out in the elements without breaking. I use stranded copper wire 7x0.029" strung between trees. It survives for years without breaking.

Re: Another odd signal (or signal-like phenomenon)

It's probably a chirp used to measure ionospheric conditions.

Google "chirp sounder radio" to learn a bit more about them. As a traditional radio listener you'd just hear a quick squeak as it swept through the pass band.

The magic of SDR that you can see these things as well as hear them.

What is your name so we may address you correctly?
How did you remote your station?
Where are the people looking that they can't find your station?

Re: antenna seperation

As F1BJB said, it's a complex question. I think it's unlikely that your scenario would result in a issue for your SDRplay but it would be nice to have some peace of mind. One way to do that is conduct your own experiment using gear you may have in the shack. We know the SDRplay should not be subject...

Re: SDR PLAY 2 Front End Protection?

There have been a number of discussions about RX isolation such as Bottom line, you need to keep the signal to 0dBm or less at the RSP input and the best way to do that is with an isolating relay or as you are already doing, disconnecting the cab...

Re: RSP-2 with TS590SG

I have a RSP-2 connected to my TS590SG using SDRuno. It is my experience that inputs A & B do not show much signal (S2 or S3 from memory) during TX. However the low frequency input does show a much stronger signal. I am not sure if it is due to HF sensitivity for this port or leakage. Certainly,...

Re: Audio Recording

i'd love this too. i think it's bizarre how many sdr apps can't record to wav/mp3, like were supposed to constantly sit next to a speaker 24/7. What did listeners do before SDR apps? Surely there must be a number of methods of recording audio on a PC? I use something called scanner recorder which m...
