Re: Choppy/Stuttering audio across platforms.

You may have something else going on if after 5-10 minutes the CPU usage climbs from 10% to over 50% (mine always stays quite steady within a small range). Have you tried doing a CTL+Shift+Esc to start the Task Manager to see what processes are running and using resources, both before and after the ...

Re: W3GAS reviews the SDRplay RSP

This is a good review. Although I normally have the SDRPlay RSP connected to a small Windows 10 laptop, I don't have any problems running it on an XP desktop - not sure why this review indicates that 'unless you still use XP, you have the basics in place for an amazing journey into "radio surfi...

Re: The name station name thing 2

And now i am also bemused (more than before). It wasn't working this AM after last night when it was OK. So just now I got completely out of HDSDR and re-started HDSDR and then checked EXTIO and all of a sudden the database status is Good and I am seeing the Station ID in the Station Name Panel OK.

Re: The name station name thing 2

It worked OK last night for me. The station name panel came up, I moved it to an unused portion of the audio waterfall and it would identify stations as I moved to their frequency. But now this morning it's not working. Clicking on EXTIO / Advanced / Station Config it shows Database Status: Unavaila...

Re: Problem with the Gain Control setup in ExtIO 3.5

I don't like it (v 3.5) because I too always have the AGC off and like being able to manually adjust the LNA threshhold and also the gain reduction (I usually am at 80 or 85 db reduction on the AM BCB). So I went back to using v 3.4.

Re: Laptop For sdrplay

I have HDSDR installed on 5 computers - 1 tablet, 2 laptops, and 2 desktops. Here's what I have found with them as far as performance with HDSDR and SDRPlay. Any CPU with a Passmark score of less than 1000 is likely to be limited at least in some way - bandwidth, response, mullti-tasking, etc. The P...

Re: What fun!

Thanks, Mike! I will take a look (even though I'm at work!)...I find the more I use HDSDR and just play with the settings to get a good sound and to dig out weak signals, the more intuitive it becomes, even if it is just by trial and error so far... :D

What fun!

As a long-time SWL (not a ham, although my Dad was) I like turning knobs and dials. But after less than a week with SDRPlay and HDSDR I'm pretty much converted to SDRs! Now I'm afraid my small collection of SW radios is going to be just collecting dust...even my CommRadio CR-1 is liable to sit idle....
