Re: Which Windows 10 SDR Software(s) Work with the RSP2?

Surely you don't need to zoom in so close on the main display? The IF display will show the tuned signal up really close without any need to zoom the main one. I usually leave the main window showing about 200KHz (2MHz SR and 8 times decimation) and If I need to look closely at the tuned signal I lo...

Re: Hear noise but no transmissions

Hi Yeved. Are you seeing spikes on the spectrum display but when you click the tuning cursor onto a spike you are getting no sound? Or are you seeing no spikes at all? You say you are are receiving noise, so it seems the receiver and audio is working. Remember that the frequency entry is KHz, not MH...

Re: SDR RX Anomalies

Hi Rob. I haven't used SDR# for years (switched to Uno as soon as it was released), but I assume it controls the gain of the RSP2 in the same way. I wonder if there is a strong signal coming on and off the air and causing the software to 'click' the LNA/IF gain up and down? Or something similar? I h...

Re: RSP2 & NDB RECEPTION

That's great, Paul. It's quite fascinating to listen down there and even more interesting when you start really plumbing the depths below 100KHz. BTW, I use a Wellbrook 1530 loop antenna as the noise level around here is monumental and trying to hear anything at low frequencies on a conventional wir...

Re: RSP2 & NDB RECEPTION

Hi Paul. I often listen to NDB's in that part of the band and I can hear quite a few of them. I find I can hear them a lot more clearly if I switch in a 500 KHz LPF. Mine is homebrew but you can buy them. I think the problem is the massive signals coming in from the MW AM band, so the LPF cuts them ...

Re: Nothing But Noise on SDRUno

Frequency entry is a major bugbaer with me. It would be much better with separate keys for KHz and MHz, so you could enter 200K or 200M and be there in an instant instead of wondering about all those zeros. My Signal Hound spectrum analyser uses this method and it's a breeze!

Re: NDB reception

Well it's a bit of a mystery! Do you get good sigs from the LW broadcasters? I'm clutching at straws now, but despite your rural location, it is worth looking at what SDRUNo reports as your background noise level. When my local noises are not on in the daytime, I get around -110 to -120 dBM at LF on...

Re: NDB reception

Hi Paul. I occasionally listen around the beacon band and there are certainly beacons to be heard. There may be a couple of reasons why you aren't hearing much: First of all, neither of the SMA ports works well at LF (especially port B, which has a very poor LF response due to the bias-T circuitry),...

Re: Having bad AM broadcast interfernce

As you've discovered, a coaxial stub would be the length of your street! The alternatives are either a parallel tuned circuit in series with the antenna feed or a series tuned circuit across the feed. Either way you will need an inductor and a variable capacitor. The values will be roughly in the re...

Re: RSP2 LO 3rd harmonic spurious response only -20dBC

Thanks Wolfgang. These cores (picked up for almost nothing at a rally) measure very much like mix 43. I see Mouser sell the 73 equivalent, which should be much better. Thanks.
