Re: Got my RSP2 today! First impressions:

I use the Hi-Z port exclusively for LF/MF and HF. It works brilliantly with my Wellbrook loop. I help things along with a homebrew filter bank which gets rid of the remaining images. I use the two SMA ports for VHF and UHF. I've noticed an irritating glitch which may be connected to the other strang...

Re: Brand new to SDR, SWL 20 years

I'd agree with Roy. SDRUno is not the simplest SDR software, but it is designed specifically for the RSP receivers and everything (almost) can be customised to your preference. Best thing to do is to work out the basics - setting up your workspace (and storing it so it always starts up as you like i...

Re: SDR Uno - first impressions

I'm not an FM DX listener, but on the odd occasion I've used the RSP and SDRUno to tune around the FM band I've noticed it performs extremely well, pulling usable audio out of signals that other receivers really struggle with.

Re: 2 MHZ low pass filter for MW and LW reception

Thanks for posting that, Dave. I've built myself a switchable filter box. It's an ABS box with suitable connectors and inside are: 400KHz LPF for beacon & LW listening. 2MHz LPF for MW. 1.7 to 2.2 MHz BPF for the 160m band. 2MHz HPF for general HF. All 5 pole type filters built from junk-box com...

Re: Newbie coming to the party!!!

Hi John. I love loops. Tuned ones are nice to twiddle but the constant re-tuning as you move from band to band can get tiresome. Wideband ones are more convenient but need an amplifier as the loop produces a lower signal than a tuned one(I use a Wellbrook loop). When I was homebrewing loops, I found...

Blocks & Schematics?

The block diagram and cct diagrams of the RSP-1 were published and I printed them out and filed them with the manual. As a retired electronics engineer I like to have these things. Are there any similar documents for the RSP-2? I'd love to see the changes to the front end filtering, antenna switchin...

Re: SDRUno setup with RSP2

Hi Larry. It's hard to think what may be happening, but a common mistake is to use 'reverse' SMA plugs. These look like normal plugs but they don't have a pin. Using these causes zero signal on HF and weak signals on VHF/UHF. This has caught out a number of people. Also make sure the AGC is ON (set ...

Re: The new SDRPlay: RSP2

I think it should be made clear that the A and B antenna ports are NOT suitable for VLF (sub 100 KHz). I've just set my new RSP2 up, and after a few tests it is obvious that as the frequency decreases, the sensitivity via these ports falls away steeply and if the gain is increased you just get more ...

Re: Proposed upgrades to RSP1 no cancelled ??

Hm, I would say most of the wishes for the RSP 1 have been recognized and the result is the RSP2. Only thing I don't like with the RSP2 is the high impedance antenna input for VLF and LF. I am using an active antenna there which has a 50 Ohms output. So the recent buyers of the RSP1 have funded the...
