Re: SDRPlay Performance

Putting some specific numbers to performance. I own a desktop PC running an i5-4460 processor with 8 Gb RAM and Windows 8.1. With SDRPlay at 8MHZ bandwidth when I run in HDSDR it uses around 16% cpu load according to task manager, with a total cpu load of 22-24%. When I run SDRUno or SDR# CPU usage ...

Unable to record or playback

I don't know what I am doing wrong wrong - but when I click on the record button for the first time it comes up with the error message "unable to open output wav file". The rec button lights up - but that is all. When I click on the play arrow I would expect it to open up a file location a...

New API 1.95 improves zero IF image rejection

Having got API 1.95 working by deleting the registry entry as suggested I was then able to check whether there was any improvement in the zero IF image rejection. I'm very pleased to find that there is a significant improvement, so that a signal 60 dB above the noise floor produces only a weak image...

Disaster with API 1.94 (*1.95) and Sharp 1361

I installed API 1.95 and installed the latest ExtIO to HDSDR folder. That is all I dsid - HDSDR works - but I think the decimation is flaky. Then I went back to my tried and tested SDR# build 1361 - and it just sat there not running SDRPlay!!! Just a blank waterfall. So I uninstalled Mirics 1.95 - r...

Re: Odd behaviours spotted so far.

I've noted the same bouncing initially - but now can't reproduce it. When saving a workspace I would really, really, like it to save the size and position of the pop-up windows that I've opened at that point. Then next time I open it everything is where I want it. With a choice of ten workspaces you...

SDR Uno - first impressions

It is going to take a while to get familiar with all the controls but the layout looks good. You can set up the various pop-up windows above the main RX display quite neatly. How to get them to stay there for next time needs investigating. My thoughts for FM-DX use which is 98% of my interest in rec...

How will Studio 1 be made available?

If this or a similar question hasn't already been posted and in the queue - I'll bite the bullet and ask how SDRPlay plan to make Studio 1 available? eg will it be "free" to registered owners? or will it be bundled with new purchases (with a possible change in pricing)? or will it be a cha...

Re: Using SDRPlay as RFI Finder

My SDRPlay is excellent at showing up RFI. Some days at 0845 a dirty great RF source starts up at the lower end of the FM broadcast band - adding 25-30dB to the noise floor. It lasts about 45 minutes. It suggest to me an RF heating source when a factory starts up in the morning. Currently every even...

Re: Minimum gain but still have images

BTW and FWIW, I find that using Low IF with HDSDR greatly improves managing those images. Hi Harry, The problem with using Low IF is that you then have to contend with IF images spaced at twice the sample rate i.e. 4.096 MHz below a strong station - and these are only around 45 dB down. Airspy will...

Re: Minimum gain but still have images

By "AM station" you mean a medium wave broadcast station I presume. Your description suggests an aliasing problem which is why it is moving at x3 the frequency shift. I had the reverse problem - Radio China International on the 75 m band appearing at the bottom end of the AM band and movin...
