Re: Ubuntu 16.04 and SDRPlay don't work

Hi Andreas, getting SDRPlay to work in Ubuntu 16.04 is not easy. If possible, try with an USB3.0 port, this seems to work on most machines. There is a patch for Soapysdrplay that fixes this, but you have to get soapysdrplay from git and build it from source. I have cubicsdr running here, built from ...

Re: GNUradio

There is no direct support for SDRPlay in gnuradio. You need gr-osmosdr. You can go 2 ways: 1. Direct SDRPlay support in gr-osmosdr: You have to build gr-osmosdr from source and enable the NON_FREE drivers. Not recommended, since the SDRPlay support in gr-osmosdr is rather incomplete and there seems...

Patch: PPM correction for SoapySDRPlay

If you are building SoapySDRPlay from source, you might consider the attached patch that implements the missing PPM correction. Tested with gqrx.

Patch against current git.

Remove .png from the file name.

Feedback welcome.

Re: FLDIGI only partial waterfall.

Hello Heinrich, thanks for your answer. My configuration is basically the same as yours, except I use a shift of 85 Hz. But meanwhile I found the cause of my problems. The squelch was set slightly above zero. I don't know why, but with this station the green bar next to the squelch slider is very lo...

Re: FLDIGI only partial waterfall.

Hello DanubeBCL, this is OT regarding SDRPlay, but I hope the message comes through anyway. I see you are receiving DDH47 on 147.3 kHz with fldigi. I have a problem with exactly this station. It is decoded with many errors or sometimes not at all. The signal quality is fine. The strange thing is tha...

Re: ubuntu 16.04: nothing works!

After finding and reading this thread, I tried connecting SDRPlay to a USB 3.0 port (USB 3.0 hub connected to a Transcend ExpressCard adapter) instead of the USB 2 ports I had been using and guess what, it worked perfectly! Interesting. I see exactly the same (see some posts above). What hardware a...

Re: ubuntu 16.04: nothing works!

But it if is an SoapySDR problem, why does it work for me, but only on USB 3.0 ports??

My setup is basically the same as Franco's, everything build from source with all sources from their respective git repos.

Ubuntu 16.04 is a fresh install, not an upgrade.

Re: ubuntu 16.04: nothing works!

Hello, I can support Franco's observations in the way that also for me nothing has changed with the new API. On my notebook HP Elitebook 8560p, sdrplay is working with two of the 4 USB ports. According to the notebook manual, the working ports are USB 3.0 ports. On the other port sdrplay crashes har...

API 1.54 on Linux - some questions

Hello, I just installed the new API 1.94 on Ubuntu 16.04. I am running gqrx with gnuradio / gr-osmosdr / SoapySDR / SoapySDRPlay, all compiled from source using the source from the git repositories. Gqrx is running, so the new API seems to be working. But I have some questions: 1. How to tell which ...

Re: "birdies"... how to minimize them

On what frequencies do you see them? I am using SDRplay mostly on HF (up to 30 MHz) have no problems.

I read some people had a bit of success with a RF choke on the USB connection (some turns of the USB cable through a large ferrite core)
