Re: MW Breakthrough

Just a VERY DIFFIDENT addition... As an aside from AM breakthrough: I think it very likely that you already know about LED lamp-bulbs, but I did not and was quite happy with what I was receiving, then turned the desk-lamp on and was his with a wall of noise - that's hoe I found out, You might profit...

Re: MW Breakthrough

Hi there This is unlikely to be of much help in receiving the MW and FM broadcasts that appear to be your main interest. However, perhaps my own observations as another newcomer may help clarify things a little. FYI: I own an RSP2 and live in a rural area with no really nearby AM broadcast stations....

Re: Ideas for future Updates

Although I really appreciate the pressures the software team is under (I can only imagine), perhaps consideration could be given to introducing individual squelch settings in the upcoming scanning option (if feasible), planned to be introduced in version 1.3.

Re: Construction of an active rx only hula-loop antenna

Hope this new essay into home-brewing works well for you. I'm just on to my unambitious Mk2 version - now a 36" hula-hoop (one turn of twin-core lightweight electrical flex - fed through a so-called active antenna by Vectronics (had it for some years and little used until now) - ait's n ATU with con...

Re: Innocent question

Actually, the only conceivable change that I've made, is possibly having started to use uno 2.2. Of recent months, I have been looking for NDB' s (with satisfying -for me) success, using Port A with my active mini-whip (the Ukrainian job), which performs pretty well. I've been using uno's built-in M...

Innocent question

Has anyone noticed a marked increase in AM Broadcast breakthrough (particularly in the MF Band) in southern UK over the past couple of days -or have I perhaps suddenly created a local problem for myself?

Re: Construction of an active rx only hula-loop antenna

Thanks for the observations Andy, with regard to loop size and multiple turns etc. I had considered increasing the number of turns and had actually already ordered a 36" loop (as an aside, I had no idea how difficult it might prove to source a "simple" hoop as they now seem fashionable exercise devi...

Construction of an active rx only hula-loop antenna

Great litlle video by Kevin Loughlin Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDRPzoNoFhc&t=206s Appeared attractive - so, out with "junk box" and about an hour after finding the bits, my bodge-up was up and running. It's only a small (24") kiddies hoop, but DOES actually work up in an attic room (as h...

Perhaps of a little help to any real newbies

Firstly, may I just say that as a virtual newbie to the world of SDR radio myself, I can well appreciate some of the problems that you may experience when You start trying to use your shiny new SDRplay receiver. Although I would like to point out that I am very much "non-technical," I have in the pa...
