Re: RSP1A: wobbling spurs around 2.335MHz * n

I think the tech team have said that these are products of the small switch-mode PSUs within the RSP1a itself. I don't think there's any cure, but they show up more at low gain settings and almost disappear into the noise as you turn the gain up.

Re: SDRplay questions

I'm surprised plasasasa has found his magnetic loop antenna so bad, although I am not sure which type he means - a ring-dipole type with a tuning cap at the top or a wideband untuned active one like the Wellbrook? I have been using a Wellbrook 1530 for the last 14 years and it's a real noise-buster....

Re: Antenna port limitations

I've found that the A&B inputs get slowly worse as the frequency drops, especially the one that has the bias-t. Hi-z is much better at LF. Long wires can be very bad if there is local noise about. I can't hear anything much on my vertical wire no matter what aerial port I use! So I use a Wellbrook l...

Re: New User Problems

Hi Tom. SDRUno has a steep learning curve, but once you've mastered it it is a very powerful, feature-rich program. I've had the original RSP1 and now I have the RSP2. The RSP1a has only one antenna input, so you obviously haven't got THAT wrong! The only thing that springs to mind is the frequency ...

Re: Cable RF pickup.

I agree with 13kda - I use satellite cable CT100 etc for all my scanning and VHF/UHF listening. It's low loss up to around 2GHz, flexible and cheap, and it has foil+copper braid. It's 75 ohms, but that makes no significant difference. The only drawback is that it's a 7mm dia cable so you may need to...

Re: Cable RF pickup.

Hi Paul. RG58 comes in various flavours and some of them are terrible, with loose braid providing little screening. The other possibility is that RF is leaking into the RSP via the USB cable. A ferrite choke on this cable (as close to the RSP as possible) may help. I'm not sure how the metal box of ...

Re: Ant switching bug still present?

Back home now and I've just tried it with the gain at full and it does not happen. Only at lower gain settings.

Re: Ant switching bug still present?

I haven't tried max gain as I have some strong MW sigs around here. I have to go out now, but when I come back I'll give it a whirl. Thanks.

Re: Ant switching bug still present?

Yes, 1.21. I've just re-checked and it does it without fail. 1. Start Uno 2. Select 2MHz SR and dec 8. 3. Enter 400 MHz and ANT A will auto select. 4. Click on '160m' button (at this stage sr and dec will change ) 5. Select Hi-z. At this point the spectrum and waterfall displays stop working. RF gai...

Ant switching bug still present?

I see we still have the 'freezing' when initially switching from Ant A to Hi-z. To replicate it, start Uno at a VHF frequency on ANT A, then move to a low frequency (2MHz in my case) then select Hi-z. Waterfall etc will lock up. Clicking 'stop' and then 'play' corrects it.
