MegaDipol MD300DX
I have been using my Wellbrook Loop ALA1530S+ for many years now for HF reception (mainly HFDL and GMDSS utilities). It was quite successful, however I have recently had the chance to use the MegaDipol MD300DX antenna from Bonito - https://www.bonito.net/hamradio/en/megadipol-md300dx-wideband-active...

Re: RSP1a and dongle on one computer
To answer the query as to whether you can run the RSP1a and a dongle on the PC simultaneously, there is no problem with this. I often run my RSP2 using SDRuno to cover a number of HFDL transmissions along with an Airspy HF+ using SDR# to cover another HFDL freq which is outside of the 10MHz the RSP2...

Re: SDRuno: best settings for AIS decoding?
Unless you have a QTH on a cliff top overlooking the sea, AIS traffic is difficult to copy over 30km or so inland.

Re: Is this a worthwhile addition
MultiPSK is the best all round decoder available, it decodes around 100 different digital modes (the HAM ones in the free version, but commercial decodes like ACARS, HFDL, VDL2, GMDSS are only available in the 'PRO' version)

Re: Metal housing upgrade for RSP-2?
The RSP2 has a metallic coating on the inside of the plastic box, so there is no real need for a metal box. I bought the metal box for my RSP1 and even with it, I saw no real difference in performance.

Re: Multiple VRX receiver /tuner operation
If you need to run multiple VRX (I use ten), you need virtual audio cable which gives you any number of virtual channels for sound. These are usually used for utility listening where you can decode multiple channels simultaneously, however if you need to listen to multiple channels, you can switch b...

Re: Setting up multiple instances of WSJT-X with VRX's?
Hi Franko, The first VRX is the one that determines where the LO freq is, so I do not use the VRX 0-00 for anything except setting up the LO, so in my case where I am listening to L-Band traffic around 1545.030MHz, I set the VRX 0-00 to 1545 and then set the other VRX up to the freqs I want to liste...

Re: Setting up multiple instances of WSJT-X with VRX's?
Hi Franko, I have a similar use for SDRUno, I have 10 VRX open feeding 10 copies of MultiPSK via 10 channels of VAC. You choose your VAC soundcard chaneel from the SETT. menu on each VRX, click SETT and you get a RX Setting window for the VRX, the OUT button gives you access to your output device, I...
