RA0SMS active mini-whip power supply
Hi I have one of the subject mini-whips. Power requirements stipulate 12 - 14V/300ma and it has worked pretty well on a good quality switched regulator power supply at 12V. I have recently replaced this psu with a presumably superior bench type 13.8V/5-7amp regulated power supply unit, the output of...

Re: rsp1 drivers
Hi Mike
I know that this might seem a little "silly," but I've been there....(male - never read the instructions).
However, on several programmes there is a drop-down list that you need to access to select the rsp as opposed to the pre-selected default.
I hope that this may help.

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip
Thanks again for your time and interest Heinrich - I will do just that. And just by the way, the mini-whip now compares very favourably with my 20M simple longwire .
I'm beginning to think that antennae can become an addictive obsession.
Best Wishes

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip
And one very last thing Heinrich (if you have the time) Now that all is hopefully in order, would you consider that there is any advantage from moving from my serviceable (switched) 12v/1200ma half-brick to the 13.8V/5-7Amp more sophisticated unit? It does seem like a no-brainer, but what you said a...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip
For Heinrich and Andy Thanks for the support and advice with regard to my active mini-whip antenna problems. I have isolated the problem to an intermittent short (I think) in the RG58 cable (an old run). I have replaced this in part and the problem appears to have gone away. All power supplies and a...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip
It's pretty surely a sporadic power fault - having opened the RF isolating transformer, from it's appearance I suspect that it has very likely overheated and I would guess that what I have been experiencing have been random short circuits. At least the RSP is still delivering the goods and I must sa...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip
Thanks for your no doubt good advice (again) Heinrich - at the moment it's back on the 12V/1200ma (switched) brick, which I suspect may be problematic. It was great for 2 hours or so yesterday evening and again this morning, equaling or better than the 20M longwire, then the power level very obvious...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip
Thanks for your time yet again Heinrich. The try with the Bias T was inspired as I said by the really impressive performance of Kevin Loughlin's commercial assembly. His RSP2's Bias T sounded incredibly clear and crisp - I can't really speak for my own (RSP2) as there does seem to be a problem (the ...

Re: Bias T and active mini-whip
I hadn't noticed that Andy - but it did come back and disappear again - don't know why at the moment, but I'll give it a whirl and see if it does the same here.
Thanks for your time and reply.
Cheers
