Re: Excessive CPU usage

A couple of years ago my Win7 laptop started doing this. It would start up fine but within a few moments everything was running slowly and it was also running hot. To cut a very long story short, it turned out to be a well-known W7 bug which caused the PC to constantly search for updates. The cure w...

Re: RSP2 Band Pass not working?

It's also worth bearing in mind that the noise floor of the 8 bit dongles is much higher than the 12-bit SDRPlay. The dynamic range of a cheap dongle will be around 48 dB, whereas the SDRPlay will manage 72 dB. The ghost signals may well be there on your RTL dongle, but the poor dynamic range is hid...

Re: Antenna's

There's no DC present on the output of the interface boxes that come with active antennas. There's a DC blocking capacitor that stops any voltage appearing there.

Re: Antenna Length.

The wavelength at 1000 MHz (near enough) is 30 cm. For a quarter-wave groundplane, the length of the vertical element would be 30/4 = 7.5 cm. For a dipole, each leg would be 7.5 cm.

Re: RSP-2 with TS590SG

I would say it's normal to see a strong signal on your TX frequency. If you have 100 watts going out and a sensitive receiver at the same location (even without an antenna connected), I'd say it was inevitable. I can't explain why you saw no signal before though.

Re: RSP-1 as a bat receiver?

I've built a few bat detectors and the difficulty is always the transducer. Some electret mics will reach up to about 20+KHz but most bats operate above this. Then there are the cheap 40KHz transducers that work well but their response is quite narrowband and they only pick up in the range of maybe ...

Re: SDRuno freezes

A similar problem is mentioned in this thread: http://www.sdrplay.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2443 There seems to be a small bug in the antenna switching or gain control sections which can cause an 'out of range' error and a freeze. I believe the good chaps are looking into it and will sort it...

Re: SDRuno Frustration

The more time you spend with SDRUno the easier it gets, but I agree that some of the controls and settings are buried in places where you would not expect them. I think it would a big help to have the program initially start up with a ready-made screen layout so that new users wouldn't have to start...

Re: Ideas for future Updates

I'd just like to repeat my plea for separate MHz & KHz buttons. Entering everything as KHz is very confusing, especially when you get to VHF and above! So to be able to enter (say) 60 KHz using the KHz key and 456.123 MHz using the MHz key would be a Godsend. My Signal Hound uses this method - you s...

Re: RSP-2 antenna select via Device Control Panel?

In my case it goes like this: Start SDRUno from cold. Press PLAY Enter (say) 450 MHz and select Ant A. Now press the 160m band button then select Hi-z. This more often than not causes reception to stop and the waterfall just shows vertical lines. Pressing STOP then PLAY corrects it and reception car...
