Re: ALA1530 and Sdrplay2, connected to Hiz ?
You can use a balun if you want, but it works fine on the Hiz input without. I made an adaptor lead with an inline BNC socket leading to a short 'twisted pair' to connect to the Hi-z. Works just fine.

Re: Recording & VHF Query
The SRP's accept frequency entry as KHz. So if you enter 909 you will be taken to 909 KHz in the MW(AM) band. Typing in 5975 will put you on 5.975 MHz in the SW band. So from this you can see that to go to 101 MHz VHF you have to enter 101000. It'd be much better if there were MHz/KHz terminators.

I have them both installed on my laptop and they both work fine with my RSP2.

Re: Proposed upgrades to RSP1 no cancelled ??
If you are into low-UHF milsat listening, the RSP1 and 2 may not be for you. The conversion architecture causes images from the low 200 MHz range to pop up in the ~250 MHz area. In the UK this is a problem, as we have strong DAB signals from about 215 to 225 MHz. Changing the conversion frequency ca...

Re: 75us de-emphasis for Broadcast AM
Have you tried the 'soft filter' setting? It gives a less 'rectangular' IF filter shape and rounds off the shoulders of the slope, rather like an analogue filter would do. I use this and I find it much kinder on the ear than the default setting.
Re: Tuning
Dougg - perhaps I'm misunderstanding you, but you do know you can tune in increments of 1Hz if you want? Just hover your mouse over the required digit and roll your mouse wheel.

Re: Wellbrook loop resistance?
The inner of the BNC should definitely be positive 12v. Resistance-wise I get 1.4 Mohm, but the reading probably varies depending on what voltage your meter runs from. Looks like your friend's interface unit has had some reverse polarity!

Re: SDRUno recording settings?
Hi Steve. I can't answer your recording question, but the LO and the 'tuned' frequency should not be the same as this will put the received signal right on top of the local oscillator, which causes noise and distortion especially on weak signals. The received sig should always be off to one side of ...

Re: High Z with G5RV
No problem. 450 ohm into 1k is regarded as a good match, as it's only a 2:1 ratio. On receive it makes little difference anyway. Happy twiddling!

Ladder line is balanced, so connect across P and N. Ignore the G terminal.
