Re: Further to Wellbrook ALA1530LN connection to HI-Z port

Not at all, Paul. I hate to see newcomers put off by problems that actually have simple answers if only someone would take a few minutes to explain. Andy Ikin told me he's slowing his business down now he's 'getting on a bit', but it looks like the advent of cheap SDR's has caused a surge in demand!

Re: Further to Wellbrook ALA1530LN connection to HI-Z port

Yes, you can connect the coax output from the Wellbrook interface box directly to the Hi-z input. Fit a link between N & G and connect the coax with the inner to P and the screen to G. I used mine like this for some time and it worked well. However, in my quest for lower noise levels I later made a ...

Re: Using a Wellbrook ALA1530LN on an RSP2

Hi Paul I use my Wellbrook 1530 withthe Hi-z port, as this port is more suited to LF/MF/HF use. It has lower noise, lower gain and better overload characteristics than the other two ports (at these frequencies). I keep the ports A & B for VHF. The one disadvantage of the Hi-z port is the lack of fil...

Re: Calibrating SDRUno

'An eighth of an inch' doesn't mean a lot Max, as it depends on what span you have selected and any zoom you are using. Can you say how many KHz it is? The RSP2 and 1a are usually very close to their claimed frequency (with in a few hundred Hz at VHF) and anything bigger than this may indicate somet...

Re: Looking for a Wellbrook LF1010

It's worth remembering that the LA1530 works down to at least 20 KHz. There's a group of 4 or 5 data sigs around 20 KHz that come in well here in NW England. I suspect the response is dropping by this point though, so if you need to hear down to 10 KHz, maybe the LF1010 would be better. I've attache...

I can't answer any of your questions except the reference frequency. It is 24 MHz on all models.

Re: New to this and my RSP2 keeps switching antenna inputs

Kenny - be prepared to spend some time getting used to it. The RSP's are all fine receivers which will receive just as much as your analogue radios. In many ways they are better, as you can set filter widths and gain levels to suit your tastes with far more flexibility. I was just like you - old-sch...

Re: First setup VHF 118-160 MHz

Neil The RSP's use SMA antenna connectors. If your antenna cable is big & heavy, I'd recommend an adaptor lead rather than a rigid block adaptor. This will take the strain off the system. There's a company called Sinequanon that do ready-made leads and their prices are reasonable. I don't know wheth...

Re: circuits

Basically yes. The chipset is the Mirics in all versions but the antenna signal routing is different and the RSP-1a has extra (and better) bandpass filters. Also the RSP1a makes use of a hidden feature which can use an extra 2 bits of ADC resolution, but I wouldn't expect this to make a big differen...
