Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5

Hi Steve, The entire point in setting up the SDR near the antenna terminals with just a balun in between feeding the receiver's balanced input is that you do away with thorny coax grounding issues, while using a configuration which surely minimizes interfering noise pick-up. Having already tested th...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5

Remoting the USB connection of RSP devices is very intriguing poblem indeed. Here are some pointers. 1) I tested my RSPduo with SDRplay and three different hubs I had in the junkbox, one looking extravagantly like a purple octopus with 4 legs, and found that the RSPduo worked no problem with all of ...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5

Hi Steve, Please look at the following post: https://www.sdrplay.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3428 Text is: I was fortunate enough to find a 50ft USB cable that worked very well. It had the active transceiver in the middle and a ferrite bead on each end. Recently, I went back to the same e-bay ...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5

In my opinion the most suitable USB Buffer Cable for the projected application should be this: http://www.usbgear.com/USBG-EXT-2X/2-port-usb2-high-speed-active-16ft-usb-extension-cable Cables can also be stacked. Black Box also markets a 15 m extension cable (USB 3 model USB3ACE-15M) at the prohibit...

Re: Remote RSP via USB/CAT5

You could use a buffered USB cable. Some cables boast full speed USB 2 and a max. length of 200 ft. An example here: http://www.usbgear.com/USBG-230X/200ft-usb2-extension-cable-active-usb-extension-booster I am also very interested in remoting the RSP receiver, as I found very good noise rejection b...

Re: loud spurs in audio output

In the beginning, using an RSP2pro, I had whines and interference all over the place. This state of affairs drove me crazy for three days...until I went to the shop and purchased another (expensive) USB cable: then all the mystery problems just disappeared in one go.....why not try another cable? Se...

Re: loud spurs in audio output

Hi Art,

Perhaps it is interference from the PC you use getting into the RSP1A through the USB port. If this is the case, an extra long (2m) EMI suppressed USB cable, with double shielding and ferrite suppressors at both ends could save the day....

Cheers,
