Re: Further to Wellbrook ALA1530LN connection to HI-Z port

Thanks Andy I now have a successful Hi-Z connection to a 50 ohm feeder from a mini-whip, whilst I wait for the loop arrival. I suppose there must have been a good reason to choose that type of plug... Mr Iken appears to be inundated with orders (can't be bad for him). I do appreciate your taking the...

Further to Wellbrook ALA1530LN connection to HI-Z port

If I understand the following correctly, it should be possible to connect the ALA1530 interface output directly to the Hi-Z port without modification, or can someone tell me whether I am mistaken? Ports A and B are intended as general purpose RF ports, but the Hi-Z port is really intended as the pri...

Re: Using a Wellbrook ALA1530LN on an RSP2

Your loop project sounds really promising David; congratulations and thank you for your comments. I was, of course, aware of the two different bsd's, but was only interested in the RSP2 flavour and was familiar with the stated filter arrangements, but failed to understand why a direct link from the ...

Re: Using a Wellbrook ALA1530LN on an RSP2

Thank you for the guidance Andy.
Just a question though - I had always believed that the MW/FM filters on the RSP2 only apply to Ports A & B.
However (an uneducated) look at this BSD seems to indicate that they are automatically applied to the HI-Z port.
I assume that I'm probably wrong...

Using a Wellbrook ALA1530LN on an RSP2

Currently, Port A is attached to an active mini-whip antenna that I believe provides really quite good reception from VLF through MF (at all times) and >7 Mhz (most times - haven't done much above 15Mhz at HF). Port B is populated by three-way external switching to an H/V/UHF discone, an alternative...

Re: RSP Spectrum analyser software available shortly

Congratulations - looks fantastic!
Just an "inocent" query:
Could it be possible to reduce the sweep still further, down to say 250hz or even lower, perhaps permitting even finer resolution, down to single hz values?
Or is this a really ridiculous ask?

Re: hiz antenna

This may or may not be helpful Barry: Once the connections are screwed in, why would you want to unscrew them? If you are thinking of using alternative antennae on the Hi-Z Port, it is possible to obtain additional (little green plugs) to which other antennae could be connected and the plugs (they a...

Earthing/grounding of coax outer braid

I know that I'm a dummt, but would be grateful for advice on how best to physically connect coax outer braid to an earth-rod. Is it acceptable to turn back some of the outer braid when fitting say a PL259 to an SO239 and clamp the earth strap or wire to/around it, covering the lot with self-amalgama...

Re: VHF Reception

Hi Richard If you have adjusted the Gain/Gain Reduction to your satisfaction on the Main Panel (default is Gain reuction. but selectable to Gain under the Main Panel "Sett" menu) and this is generally producing an acceptable signal level, please be aware that when an aircraft is in close proximty to...
