Re: Antenna Referred Power Measurement.

dBm is a power measurement unit (power in relation to 1 milliwatt). In radios the power normally is calculated from the voltage on the 50 Ohms antenna input. Maybe the "creator" of this expression wanted to express all this in one term. But I also think the expression is not very meaningful. In SDR ...

Re: SDRUno RSP1 NB doesn't do much

Generally, digital noise reducers are best used sparingly That's correct. There are several people (I am one of them) who can read voice under strong hiss better when noise reduction is off. The NR takes away too much of the frequencies needed in our brain to discriminate the syllables. NRs are pre...

Re: SDRUno RSP1 NB doesn't do much

Trying to pick out weak signals from the noise, I found that the NB (noise blanker) does very little to nothing. Do not confuse noise blanker and (dynamic) noise reduction. Noise blankers are made for pulse shaped noise (like those ignition sparks of very old cars or electric pasture fences or simi...

Re: RSP1 with Win10 MiniPC

Thanks. I have already been looking at the specs of Minix NGC 1 and Beelink BT7. They seem to have Gigabit-LAN. 12 V are important for remote operation. USB ports are needed for SDRs and remote controlling of antenna relays and such. But I have not yet made up my mind. Im am still dreaming of a remo...

Re: RSP1 with Win10 MiniPC

I read that Nexbox Mini PCs only have 100 Mbit-LAN. Are there no models with Gigabit-LAN? The manufacturer's website is not very talkative about that. They only praise the video decoding qualities. At least Nexbox seems to provide 4 USB sockets while others only have 2 or max. 3. Can the Nexbox Mini...

Re: QRN (noise) reduction?

Understand that normal atmospheric noise, if that's what you're referring to, *is* a signal. Directional antennas such as Yagis will reduce it from unwanted directions. Yes, I know most radios and antennas claim to be low noise. Nothing but marketing. Good radios pick up tons of atmospheric noise. ...

Re: Is the SDRplay a good approach for recording PAL signals?

Maybe I have not fully understood your intention and what you want to do with the IQ baseband spectrum you can record with SDRuno. I have digitialized a lot of old VHS videos with a frame grabber (an old Terratec Grabster AV 300 MX taking up the S-video output of my old VHS machine) and the free Vir...

Re: My workaround for recording with SDRuno 1.11

If you are only interested in the audio (not the IF/IQ baseband spectrum in first place) you can also do recordings with software (like Audacity or similar). When your PC still has a stereo mix line (must sometimes be activated in the systems audio settings) you can record any audio which is running...
