Re: Why you should avoid RG-58
How about using 75 ohm RG-6 cable instead of RG-58? It seems to work great on VHF/UHF reception on my rsp-2 pro. Would it work as well on HF? I use CT100 type satellite cable for most of my listening station. It's cheap, flexible and low-loss from LF to SHF. Depending on where you get it from (chea...

Re: Very first setup
I use a selection of antennas for VHF/UHF and mostly a Wellbrook 1530 loop for VLF to 30 MHz. It is mounted at gutter height at the furthest point at the rear of the house. Random wires are a no-no here as the amount of noise from local devices clobbers everything. The loop ignores most of the noise...

Re: "Anoomalies" experienced whilst dabbling with NDB reception
AFAIK, NDBs are radiated only as double-sideband-with-carrier signals, that is AM. If reception is clear, copy should be easy in AM mode using a filter wide enough to fit both sidebands (upper and lower) with the carrier sitting at mid-point. Under difficult conditions (very weak signal or noise on ...

Re: Frequency response of Ports A and B below 1.5 MHz?
I'm sure the tech team can answer your question, but I've found that both A & B ports start to lose sensitivity below 1.5 MHz. Port B is the worst as it has the bias-T circuitry to cope with. The Hi-z port works supremely well down to a few KHz but it does not have access to the MW rejector, which i...

Re: AM Radio Crud - How to Eliminate?
Don't forget the RSP-2 has a MW(AM) rejector which you can enable. It puts about 30dB attenuation in from 500 KHz to 1.7 MHz and it may help you. Below is a shot of how LF looks here in NW England on the RSP2 using the Hi-z input with an external 500 KHz filter. Antenna is a Wellbrook 1530 active lo...

Re: Degaussing Coil as a Loop style Antenna
I spent 20 years in the TV repair trade and must have scrapped hundreds of clapped-out CTV's but it never entered my head to rescue the degaussing coils. This despite being a keen loop antenna user!

Re: Noise
Horrible things, thought up by idiots who think hammering high-speed data onto a poorly balanced, unscreened cable network is acceptable. A neighbour once had a pair given to him for his birthday and they completely trashed my listening from about 3 MHz to 12 MHz. As he's an OK bloke, I invited him ...

Re: Noise
A couple of things to investigate. Do you have enough processing power? Lack of it can cause chopping, especially if you are using a high sampling frequency. The other thing is to see if you are tuned to the same frequency as your local oscillator (LO). If you are, you may be hearing the soft pulsin...

AFAIK, the files are IQ recordings, not audio.
