Re: Using the RSP1 with a noise source aka Scalar Network Analyzer

I use this Noise Source, a RSP1 and a Mini Circuits ZEDC-15-2B coupler. The noise source is really good, it becomes even better if you remove the third amplifier and insert a few dB attenuation between source and coupler. The reason for the high temperature of the source are the resistors used with ...

RSP1 with Win10 MiniPC

I made some experiments with RSP1 and Mini PCs "WINTEL CX-W8" and "GOLE1". This are small PCs with Intel Z8300 Quad-core, Windows10, 2GB (GOLE1 4GB) RAM and 32GB ROM. It works! I tried HDSDR 2.75 with latest API/EXTIO, SDRuno 1.11 and Dump1090. The maximum usable bandwith is about 4MHz with processo...

Re: Lowest frequency

Hello All, the station with the lowest frequency I can receive is the RSDN-20 TX on 11,905 kHz. The SAQ-transmission from 08:41 to 09:07 UTC on July, 03. 2016 was received here 20dB above noise floor using a bandwidth of 200Hz. Antenna: rf-systems DX-10 Receiver: SDRplay, HDSDR 2.70 QTH: Cologne, Ge...

Re: Can only pick up my local radio station

Hello John The signal you see in your first and third picture is the LO from SDRplay. This signal is generated inside the SDRplay. Your local Radio Station seems to be very strong and can be received even without an antenna. If you would like to listen to it I would prefer the FM-demodulator and a l...

Power consumption

I made a few measurements of the power-consumption of the SDRplay. ADC Sample Rate: 8MHz, Zero IF , IF Bandwidth 8MHz, U=4,98V f < 60MHz : 350mW f > 60MHz : 550mW When ADC Sample Rate is lowered power consumption becomes up to 100mW lower. IF Bandwidth seems to have no influence if Sample Rate is no...

Re: No ADS-B Reception

@13dka I agree, the discone does not seem to be the best antenna for ADS-B reception. Additionally there are 20m Aircell7 cable in between the discone and the SDRplay but nevertheless I receive a few transponder-signals so I can be sure that dump1090 is working. Next thing I will do is try to receiv...

Re: No ADS-B Reception

Hallo AB5R, I use the SDRplay together with an ICOM-Discone, 20m aircell7, dump1090 to receive ADS-B signals - it works good. If the plane is eg 35.000ft high the line of sight is more then 200km if there is nothing in between. Living in a large German city with the discone on the roof abt.12m high ...

Re: ADSB News?

I installed dump1090 on my win7 desktop today, connected the SDRplay to my Discone-Antenna (12m high) and --- received many transponder-signals from airplanes up to 80km away. After the installation of "VirtualRadar" I could even see the results on a map. I was given the SDRplay as a Christmas prese...

Re: Frequency Satbility

imho the SDRplay does not start the oscillator when you only connect it to 5V by USB. You have to start the software then it takes abt 15 min to warm up.
