Re: Majorly disappointed so far...
If you've still got those transceivers - you could run low power into a dummy load and compare results on your SDRs. I would expect SDRUno to easily show a local signal that strong without any antenna connected (but try some wet string as well if it doesn't) and it would be obvious on the waterfall/...

Re: Operation Difficulties
I wondered about the absolute beginner level and where to start trying to explain analogue Radio to those who have only known the digital age. You've got a head start on them, at least, having used an AM radio :) One of the problems with receivers which cover a wide section of the spectrum is that s...

Re: GNU Radio
Had some luck yesterday getting GQRX working, so I thought I'd try osmocom_fft. Seems OK as can be seen in the attached image. I tried a few options for the antenna, but haven't seen any difference. I started it like 'osmocom_fft -a sdrplay -f 92.7M -W -A 2' There's a strong BBC Radio 4 transmission...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 + SDRplay: Setup Guide?
There are two parts of the SoapySDR and the output you're getting suggests 'SoapySDRPlay' isn't installed. I pasted how that install went for me: john@Mint-18 ~/SDR_Dev $ git clone https://github.com/pothosware/SoapySDRPlay.git ./SoapySDRPlay Cloning into './SoapySDRPlay'... remote: Counting objects...

Re: How to set the bandspread to neatly match a given ham band
Jon's original post was around the time of significant changes to the software, judging by the Release Notes, but they don't provide much of a clue. "RSP advanced window" was mentioned in the Version 1.03 (18 th September 2016) updates, but must have been removed for Version 1.1 (11 th November 2016...

Re: SoapySDR Error Compiling GR-OSMOSDR
There's an 'uninstall' target in the SoapySDR Makefile, so you can use that to remove it. There isn't one for SoapySDRPlay, but I don't think it does much more than install a lib, which you could manually remove. This was how the install of the latter went for me: [100%] Built target sdrPlaySupport ...

Re: SoapySDR Error Compiling GR-OSMOSDR
No idea really and my Linux PC doesn't get used for SDRplay, but there are bits of installs on the system and I did a 'locate osmosdr' which shows where there are some libs: $ locate osmosdr /lib/udev/rules.d/60-libosmosdr0.rules /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnuradio-osmosdr.so.0.1.5git /usr/lib/x86...

Re: No RX
I don't know of a schematic, but the 'RSP2 Conceptual Block Diagram' shows the Hi-Z antenna port connects to the MSi001 without the front end RF filters in circuit. Maybe try with an antenna connected to that port (and the antenna switch in 'MAIN' set to use it) with fingers crossed. I haven't looke...

Re: Extreme narrow band
I seem to get better visual resolution of CW signals in SDRUno AUX SP window, with Refresh Rate set to its fastest, FFT Avg on 1 and the 'Flat Top P401' FFT Window setting (it has its own SET dialog). Probably not good enough for your requirements though. Hard to see fast changes between dits and da...

Re: Bothersome spurs
With 10M Sample rate, IF AGC on, no antennas connected, antenna A selected and max (67.4dB) RF Gain - I see a couple of 'spikes' around 2.28MHz. With that gain they are only about -125dB and they drift around a little. Drop the RF Gain by one click and the lowest f one shoots up to about -110dB. Dro...
