Re: PC (laptop) power induces significant noise

Hello Adrian, The problem you all have is nothing new - it is called EMC. Many devices especially those cheap ones coming from Asia do not fulfil the requirements of the EMC-directive (Europe) or FCC (USA). They produce to much noise on the power-lines, the power-lines radiate this noise and you he...

Re: PC (laptop) power induces significant noise

Thanks DerekR for starting this thread. I have isolated my own noise issues by switching on and off the circuit breakers. There are two offenders: 1. the house alarm (I can switch off the breaker, as I'll be in the house when using the SDR - so no biggie there). 2. The lights in our kitchen extensio...

Re: PC (laptop) power induces significant noise

PC monitors or their cables can also produce interference A trick is to start a recording then switch off and disconnect everything from your PC : keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers , etc Then play back the recording. Of course for a laptop you are limited :) I also found that sometimes interference...

Re: PC (laptop) power induces significant noise

Thanks very much Heinrich, food for thought. Guess all I can do is eliminate what I can. 73 Adrian

Re: PC (laptop) power induces significant noise

I have the same issue and run the laptop unplugged, however I'm still plagued with interference across all band - but worst on HF, see below. I've wrapped the USB through a ferrite ring - with no effect (again, laptop is unplugged). My head is wrecked, as I have excluded any LEDs in the house etc. I...

Balanced Line Sharing of RSP2 with Rig. Yaesu FT 840

I am new to the hobby and currently own an RSP2. The RSP2 is fed via 300ohm ladder line from a 20m Doublet (Dipole) mounted on the side of the house. I am going for my license soon and have decided to buy a Yaesu FT 840 as a first rig (this Rig does not have an RF out port). I want to keep the RSP2 ...

Open wire and grounding?

Hi All I currently have a grounded long wire connected to my RSP2 via an SMA connector - works fine. However, I am about switch over to a 300ohm open wire fed Doublet (1/2 wave on 40m) which I will connect to the Hi-Z port. Do I still need to run a ground wire from the Hi-Z port? Many thanks. Adrian

Re: Stuttering - Skipping RSP2/SDRUno

Thanks for responding Guys I have found an workaround to that issue from SDRuno ver 1.1x and that is to set the DEC in the main panel from 1 to 2 or higher and it seems to stop Stuttering on my SDRuno ver 1.1x I'll give that a go, thanks. Also you might try decreasing the zoom in the SP1 window. Tha...

Stuttering - Skipping RSP2/SDRUno

This issue appeared last week and has persisted. I can't figure it out. The only settings I have played around with since I got the RSP2 and SDRUno are the sample rate and the gain - I've reverted to the original setting at this stage. To counter what I perceived to be processing issue, when running...

Newbie here - advice needed on initial set-up

I am very new to the radio hobby and have no technical background. I received my RSP2 today and I'm itching to get going. I will be using the HI Z port for now - has anyone any advice on setting the sample rate and decimation control to get best quick start while I come up to speed with everything! ...
