Re: Beverage antenna

I find that when you joke on the technical forums people take you way too seriously. On radioreferance.com its like everyone has aspberger's.

How do I make the SDR into a police scanner or ADSB receiver?

I know that radio reference.com will let you down load the list of police frequencies on their forum, I used to do it to update my radioshack scanner. But what software would I load that into? Would it work with sdruno or would it be a whole separate program that "drives" the sdrplay? How would I ge...

Re: VHF/UHF antenna made from wire and PVC Very directional sensitive

Here is the antenna being rotated around from the top to bottom of waterfall. You can see it cutting in and out at 1/8 turn intervals.

VHF/UHF antenna made from wire and PVC Very directional sensitive

The elements are 50cm copper rods for a wave length of one meter. The directors and reflector are single piece insulated 16ga wire stuffed into the pvc tubes. I guess the wave length is one meter but it might be lower then this because there are ~25cm wires attached to them and the coax. Originally ...

Re: TV Rabbit Ears Works Well

How do you decode the digital signals? I hear them on UHF VHF but have no idea what they are. I just built a yagi ant. that I didn't think was going to work, but instead is the best antenna I have.

Volume cuts in and out intermitently every second SOLUTION!

Lately when I listen to the SDR it sounds like someone is turning the sound on and off about once a second. Its unuseable to listen to. The problem? I had the band width set to 10 MHz. This works some times, but if memory is an issue it will cut in and out. You can tell by looking at the CPU usage b...

Do you need a ground when running balun to a longwire ant?

I listen to the <30 MHz band and recently purchased a 9:1 balun that connects my long wire ant to a piece a 50 or 75 ohm coax. Would it be helpful to solder a wire from a ground rod I have to the outer connection of the BNC connector on the balun? Or does this screw up the impedance? This balun is f...

Re: TINY homemade UHF ant. WORKS

Does it matter how close the 6" pieces are from the top? Thats aluminum braid so soldering is out. I tried this on my VHF antenna I showed in another post. Adding the bottom horizontal elements are more for impedance match then reception? Makes sense...
