RSP-2 with TS590SG

Hello.
I bought SDRPlay RSP-2 about to weeks ago. I'm using it with my TS590SG. Although TS590SG has RX antenna output which can be directly connect to RSP-2 antenna input I made little box with relay to be sure, that my RSP-2 is safe. All works very fine with SDRUno and other software, till today. When I started to transmit there was practicaly no sign of my signal on waterfall. But today when I started to transmit I realize that I see very strong signal on waterfall. After checking all details I made test with antenna disconected from RSP-2. The only connecetd cable was USB with ferrit beads on both ends. And in this setup my transmitted signal was very strong on waterfall. Few days ago there was no such situation! What can happend? Thanks in advance for any helpful advise.
Robert

I would say it's normal to see a strong signal on your TX frequency. If you have 100 watts going out and a sensitive receiver at the same location (even without an antenna connected), I'd say it was inevitable. I can't explain why you saw no signal before though.

Hello.
Thanks for answer. I don't know why I didn't see so strong signal few days ago. It was maximum S2-3, now is S9 plus with only USB cable connected to RSP-2 (without antenna).
But I have question to other users with the same setup as mine (100W TX and SDRPlay RSP-2).
What is situation in your case? How strong is TXing signal on your RSP-2 waterfall? Maybe it's all OK in my case and it's nothing to worry about.

I have a RSP-2 connected to my TS590SG using SDRuno. It is my experience that inputs A & B do not show much signal (S2 or S3 from memory) during TX. However the low frequency input does show a much stronger signal. I am not sure if it is due to HF sensitivity for this port or leakage.

Certainly, if all inputs are disconnected there is little or nothing showing on the display. You could be seeing the effect of RF in the shack. Is it the same on all bands or only one? Some on this forum have had success by using clip-on ferrite cores on their USB cable. If there is RF in the shack I think it would be better to fix it than hide the effect by using cores.

Sorry I can't give you more details re signal strengths but I am travelling for work and do not have access to my rig.

Thanks Lou,

I have to find a source of problems. Probably you are right and the problem is RF in the shack. I have on my all cables ferrite beads, but it's no cure.
There are too many different cables (RF, USB, LF signal, video, power,..) so it's a little mess in the shack. I have to make apple-pie order during weekend.
For me very important information is that your RSP-2 without antenna practically didn't see TXing signal.

Hi Robert,

This morning I had a chance to review my previous statement. A 100W CW signal shows -92dB (~S6) on the SDRUno S meter.

I also have a TS-590SG with the SDRplay 2 with strong "60 cycle power spikes?" - see screen shot. I also have the ferrite cores on the Play2 USB and antenna leads. When I disconnect the 590 DVR port the spikes disappear completely. Could this also be a wall wart or ?

Any comments appreciated.

PS: Could not attach screen shot? Haven't figured it out yet.

I found the screen noise was coming from a laptop PS and I replaced it. The SDRuno display works great now.

Thanks,
