Which SDRplay do I buy?

Advice on SDRplay for FT-991A. I am in the process of buying a SDRplay, but I wanted to know if I can display both the HF and VHF/UHF if I have the RSP2 or RSP2pro units connect to my two antennas? Would I need two MFJ 1708B-SDR, because of the two antenna inputs?

I would suggest that you purchase an RSP1A if you intend to use it mainly as a panadapter with your 991A. You will need an external SDR switch if you want to do this because the 991A does not have an IF output port. There are several manufacturers of SDR switches and if you search on this forum you will find lots of discussion on this topic. Here is an eham discussion on the 991a as a panadapter

Here is more info on what panadapters are all about.

If you intend to do more extensive receiving I suggest the RSPduo. It has multiple antenna inputs, dual tuners and better front-end filtering. Just be careful if you intend to transmit while receiving even if you are on different bands. It is very easy to blow out the front end of an RSP. Top prevent this you need an SDR switch and/or one or more RF Limiter devices between the antenna and the RSP.
