When to use OmniRig and when to use CAT?

I am using SDR Uno as a panadapter for my TS-590. As far as i can see there are two ways of connecting SDR Uno to the rig. OmniRig and CAT. The manual doesn't explain well when to use OmniRig and when to use CAT.
OmniRig works fine, CAT i was never able to work.
What i am looking for is for SDR Uno to follow my rig and for the rig to follow SDR Uno.

What is the best option, OmniRig or CAT and why?

Cheers,

Ton.

Use Omni-Rig to have bi-directional control between SDRuno and your transceiver.

CAT is to make SDRuno emulate a transceiver (Kenwood TS-480), so it's for other software to control SDRuno as a transceiver.

Hope that helps,

Best regards,
