Using 2 LNAs for Inmarsat

Post by KC2Land » Sun Jan 10, 2016 7:21 pm

Hi,

I've had reasonable success using SDRplay, homebrew patch antenna and 1 LNA for Inmarsat reception. I tried using 2 LNAs in series to try to get higher gain but I'm not seeing any signals when I do that. I have each of LNAs powered by separate 9v batteries, plus I've double checked that the in/out connections are correct. The LNAs work fine when used individually. Any ideas on why this doesn't work? Should I be powering them differently?

Thanks,
T.

I wonder if there is so much gain that out-of-band signals are overloading/blocking the receiver? Do you see a large increase in noise level when you put both amps in?

The same thing happened to me using two lna4all. Try using a high- or bandpass filter for the L-Band
