SDRuno 1.22 Released

Post by sdrplay » Sat Jan 13, 2018 3:54 pm

SDRuno V1.22 has now been released. This version contains the following changes and bug fixes…

Added
• Support for 1366x768 default layout
• ADC overload detection in AGC off mode
• ADC overload acknowledgment system to avoid lockout condition
• Custom step size for each mode
• Band Button Groups (Ham Lower, Ham Upper, Broadcast)
• Two additional SP1 width presets (2560 and 3840)
• Additional menu option in memory panel to reset column widths (helps when upgrading)
• Scheduled Recording
• Auto update

Changed
• Registry reset now only clears 1.2+ entries
• SP1 Window max size supports 4K displays (3840x2160)
• Small improvements to the memory panel (panel width and field width changes)
• Improvements to the IF output mode
• UTC time fixed to 24 hour format
• Play!/Stop button colour coordinated
• Move MUTE button to make way for VOLUME label
• Moved Squelch value display to the right

Fixed
• Log10 SING error
• Aero support detection to try to prevent rendering issues
• Freezing when switching to HiZ port in gain mode
• Gain "pumping" issue when in gain mode
• Settings panels not displaying properly when "un-minimised"
• Zoomed in frequency scale drag out of bounds bug
• Noise floor measurement bug
• Improved RSP error handling
• Sample rate change causing spectrum display issues
• Device selection bug

Known Issues
• SP2 CWAFC drift issue (Zoom/window size/freq display) – will be addressed in 1.23, workaround for now is to zoom out fully in the SP2 window and then the CWAFC feature will work.
• IF output mode disabled SP1 spectrum mouse clicks – temporary issue until LO is separated from the VFO (see plans below)

Following on from the 1.21 release where we outlined the features for coming releases, we have updated our plans, as shown below. The purpose of publishing this information is to give people an insight to the development plans but it is NOT a guarantee of the exact feature line-up and we cannot give release dates.

1.23 Intermediate update
• Recording of selected signal only (either I/Q or audio) to WAV file format
• Selected signal piped to VAC in I/Q format

1.3 Major update
• Separation of VFO and LO frequency control
• Frequency scanning

1.31 Intermediate update
• Remote client for network based streaming I/Q server applications

1.4 Major update
• Addition of new API for third party plugins

Looks good and works fine so far, but there is one thing not so nice - the SP1 window is flickering so much you could not watch a long time.
I'm using the combo view and same settings as in vers 1.21.
But your todo list looks nice, so looking forward ;)

Hi Lena.
I've just installed the update and checked the combo view, but no flickering here. Windows 8.1

• Gain "pumping" issue when in gain mode
Unfortunately, gain pumping is still very noticeable / objectionable with IF Gain set to AUTO and with strong intermittent signals (like CW) near the passband..... is that what was supposed to be fixed? The issue seems to be that when the IF gain changes it takes a split second for the receiver to readjust. The first change is not very noticeable. But if the gain changes back and forth rapidly, it can change faster than the time it takes for the receiver to settle and the result is very noticeable audio pumping. A quick fix would be to prohibit gain changes in the opposite direction for (say) 3-5 seconds. For now I am leaving IF gain on manual.

So far, all else has gone very smoothly. A BIG thank you for allowing step size to be set per mode!!!!!

I like the new band selection feature. One problem though - when you go from a band that uses the A or B port, it doesn't switch to HiZ like 1.21 did. It does seem to got to port A or B when going to the higher frequencies though.

SDRuno doesn't switch from port A/B to HiZ without you selecting the HiZ port, as it can't make that decision arbitrarily. However, if you are using HiZ port and you try to go above 30MHz, it will automatically select port A because HiZ port cannot be used above 30MHz

Hope that helps

looks like an interference with the (fixed) 60 Hz refresh rate.
It only appears at SP1 waterfall (any mode) - SP2 looks fine like SP1 in earlier versions.

Edit: If you set the SP1 refresh rate to about 80 % (by far to fast for me) the flickering becomes slow and irregular.
I'm using a Asus K53 Laptop

Thanks for the new version, it's a great step in the right direction.

After I installed the new version I tuned to the 80m band and my impression was that the reception and the RF Gain Reduction behaviour has become a bit better now, is that right or only my imagination. For me a great step!

Also, the Bandselect-Feature is now really fantastic and very helpful for me, much appreciated, but please, get rid of that huge "GREEN"-coloured "Play"-overlay, it hits me right in the face! The red stop button fits much better the ovarall theme, but it would be much better if the uno-theme itself could be themed by the user.

But thats bugging on a high level and I can't say it enough, the whole team did a great job with the SDR-Radios and with the uno software. Also your support and contact to/with us users is fantastic, really much appreciate your work and efforts so far and it's fantastic to read what's been planned for the next future uno updates/versions.

Keep up your outstanding work!
73, Tom

The Norton Security Suite (free for us luck Comcast subscribers) did not like the installer file for SDRUno 1.22! Something about it not having a "reputation" as a known piece of software, so after a download, it would scan it and then delete it!

I'm not sure if you folks at SDRPlay have to do anything, as it didn't complain of a signature mismatch or anything definitely serious.

I uninstalled Norton in order to get the new version of SDRUno to actually install on my system. I didn't really regret doing this, as Norton had been behaving a bit strangely lately and complaining about various software making strange network connections. (I run the Fast Track Insider Previews of Windows 10, and after the latest windows update things with Norton got much worse, although scans show "no problems.)

Just FYI,
Roger (N1EYZ)
