Continuing Difficulties trying to run SDRUno with HRD

Hello all.
I am having problems integrating the SDRPlay with SDRuno when running Ham Radio Deluxe with an FT-857D. It is not clear to me in what order these programs must be opened and where OmniRig, VSPE (Virtual Serial Port Emulator), CAT control settings fit into this sequencing. I am unclear where the sound card (SignaLink) fits in with this. I am running Windows 10 on a powerful MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.5 with Parallels 11. I have no problem integrating HRD, SDRPlay, FT857D with HDSDR, where everything is synched and any frequency changes in one is reflected in all others. I have followed the protocols in the Manual, the Cookbook and often different solutions found online. With SDRUno, I have been able, on rare occasion, to control SDRUno from the FT-857, but not vice versa. I have spent days staring at the never ceasing appearance of the Error "VRX#0: The specified com device doesn't exist or is already open. " And I have read where one should not try to activate CAT from SDRUno. In the various settings of SDRUno, Omnirig seems to be running, and I have tried both configuring Rig 1 (FT857d) and Rig 2 (NONE) or a Kenwood generic. I have also tried creating up to 8 virtual ports in VSPE, which are occasionally recognized by SDRUno when running alone, without Ham Radio Deluxe. My transceiver runs on Com Port 5 with Ham Radio Deluxe and HRD must be started first in order to successfully connect the FT-857d using that port. In the Manual; we are instructed to set up SDRUno with “new com ports 10 and 11” but the brief mention of Ham Radio Deluxe does not clarify the correct sequencing or proper configurations of the com ports in the two programs and with the FT-857d transceiver. I am at a loss and am about to give up trying to use SDRuno and stay with HDSDR or Console when using HRD - which is most of the time. I would be very grateful for you advice. SDRPlay tech has not answered my request for help sent to them directly. Also, even with the successful use of HDSDR with HRD, the SDRPlay does not mute HDSDR during transmit despite the setting for muting. - Please see the attached. Many thanks. Lorin

HDSDR and HRD communicate with each other: HDSDR has a built in customized DDE data exchange interface which is understood by HRD and vice versa. You do not need Omnirig for this at all. HRD controls the FT-857 through COM port 5 and HRD controls HDSDR by DDE (and vice versa). SDRuno does not have this very special DDE option.

To control your FT-857 you need Ominirig and a VSPE splitter. Otherwise you cannot open your FT-857 on the same COM port 5 with HRD and Omnirig simultaneously. A CAT setup in SDRuno is irrelevant. Better deactivate it (unless you need it for other purposes). The SDRuno CAT is a Kenwood CAT and has no business to do here.
Create a splitter in VSPE, e. g. COM 5 ===> COM 3 (COM 3 must of course be available and not occupied in your PC. Use one which is free.).
Run VSPE with this splitter.
Then assign FT-857 in Omnirig to COM 3 (not COM 5)!
In HRD also assign your FT-857 to COM 3 (not COM 5!).
In SDRuno the Omnrig control must be set up and switched on, of course.

In my excample I have connected SDRuno + HRD via Omnirig to my Icom R-8500. I am using COM 1, because the Icom is attached there. In your example the VSPE splitter should be COM 5 ==> COM something.

I cannot comment on Signal Link and muting on TX, I do not have this setup. But the connection of SDRuno, HRD and a rig is basically working fine. As with all sorts of COM stuff there is some delay in synchronisation, of course, because all the info has to go through the COM links and the min. polling time of Omnirig is "only" 100 ms.
