RSP2 SWL

Post by K8AMI » Fri Mar 17, 2017 8:11 pm

I have some experience with playing with aNooElec RTL-SDR ...RF Upconverter For Software Defined Radio combination.

I would like to get a SDRplay RSP2 as an upgrade. Eventually, I will use it with my K3 Elecraft as a pan adapter but my primary interest is SWL for now. I can't afford an expensive antenna but I do have plenty of room for about any wire antenna.

What alternatives do I have for reasonable SWL reception?

Thanks,
Mike

I use the sdrplay 2 with a 30ft long wire antenna in a apaetment so certainly not scientific. But the prerfomance is similiar to my eton e1 so i would say the sdrplay 2 is fairly good for shortwave.

I use an RSP1 along with several antennas here including an indoor magnetic loop and also a big (130ft.) double bazooka outside and SWL performance is very good. In the past, I have owned & used many receivers both high & low end and the RSP1 compares favorably with all of them when correctly adjusted.
