Question about noise/sigal levels

Hi
I have an SDRplay 2coming out of my Kenwood TS590SG into HDSDR.
When moving around the bands I am constantly having to adjust the level on my HDSDR to be able to see the waterfall perfectly. For example if I have it perfect on 80m and I move to 40m I have to turn up the level. If I move to 15m I have to turn it down considerably.
This is not a major problem by any means but I just wonder if it is normal or could be some kind of setting that I have overlooked?
