Why are new models still using USB 2.0?

Got that but why not advance the design to incorporate modern interfaces. USB 3.0, USB 3.1, etc...

I'm not sure I understand the question. I use RSPs on USB 3.0 portx often - we recommend using USB 2.0 ports because not all USB 3.0 controller ICs are fully backwards compatible - we've certainly seen some Chinese USB 3.0 boards that have poor/little USB 2.0 support and certainly no isochronous support (which is what the hardware driver uses to guarantee the bandwidth)
