Starting Cubic Problems, Please

Post by Robert11 » Tue Oct 02, 2018 1:25 pm

Hi,

Will blame it on old age again.
Have Cubic and a RSP-2 on an iMac running High Sierra.

I am having a devil of a time starting Cubic for my new RSP-2.
Once going, it's fine, but the startup is causing me all sorts of problems.

After a lot of fiddling, I get it going, but am very uncertain what actually
did the trick. When I start, the screen that says: Cubic SDR SDR Devices comes up.
All that shows under Local is the Apple Mic. line.

If I try to Add to it, after a lot of tries, it (finally) shows SDR Play Dev 0

*is this and the Apple Mic all that is required, or some other "Soapy" something should also be there ?
The Start button on this screen does nothing.

I tried the Add Soapy Remote Button. Port shows blank.

Obviously, I don't have the Start Routine correct.
Might someone please, walk me thru the correct starting procedure, the screens, etc.

And, how to lock everything in, so that it starts easily without having to go thru all of this, each time.

Really appreciate the help; much thanks,
Bob

Assuming you have the right downloads (you seem to otherwise you wouldn't see the RSP2 show up in the device selection window), there is a known issue where the RSP device takes 2 accesses on a Mac before it shows up in the device selection window. So the sequence would be...

1. Connect RSP
2. Start CubicSDR (device selection window appears)
3. Press Refresh

At this point, the RSP should appear in the device selection window. If not, then it's possible that you either have the wrong drivers or the version of CubicSDR may not be compatible with the drivers installed.

If you are still having problems, raise a support ticket (https://www.sdrplay.com/support) and we'll help you get started.
