Hello All.

It's only natural I suppose to try out something else. In my case, Meteor m2 satellite which I understand cannot be done with the RSP1a and DRRuno that I have.

I was forced therefore into buying one these dongle thingies and downloading SDRsharp# with Orbitron though I do prefer GPredict for my SDRPLAY equipment.

Can both be safely installed on one computer with just the one drive?

I really do like my SDRplay equipment. Is it possible one day, that we can add the download and convert Russian meteor satellites as I'd far sooner do it with the quality of SDRPlay?

With available software today, you can use the RSP1A to receive HRPT signals from Meteor M2 as well as the NOAA satellites. You will need a motorized tracking antenna mount or to track by hand. The software to apply for decoding the signal is the USA-Satcom XHRPT Decoder and David Taylor's ReadHRPT. For Meteor M2 HRPT image reception, you will also need the MetFY3x Processor software and this can be used for post processing both Meteor and Fengyun satellite images. You will need an LNA, such as the NooElec SawBird GOES on the front end of the RSP1A. Here are two articles applying the RSP2 for HRPT reception from NOAA orbital satellites and/or Meteor M2. The RSP1A will also work well in this application. For the RSPduo, check with USA-Satcom on compatibility of the XHRPT Decoder.

To answer the query as to whether you can run the RSP1a and a dongle on the PC simultaneously, there is no problem with this. I often run my RSP2 using SDRuno to cover a number of HFDL transmissions along with an Airspy HF+ using SDR# to cover another HFDL freq which is outside of the 10MHz the RSP2 covers.
