SdrPlay for PSK31 Decoding

Post by M0KLF » Sun Jul 31, 2016 5:27 pm

Hello all I am new user just had my SdrPlay for a few days and am enjoying using it very much. Based near Barnsley in god own county of Yorkshire England.

I have been using SDRuno and fldigi via virtual audio cable to decode PSK31. I have no problem setting up the VAC to direct the audio to fldigi and I am happily decoding the PSK31. The problem is that whenever I select to use the VAC in my play back devices I loose the audio output from the speaks.

So what I am asking is can someone tell me how to setup VAC / SDRUno and fldigi so I can still listen to the audio stream whilst do the decoding. Im using windows 10.

Hopefully this makes more sense to you guys than it does to me at the moment.

Also be interested in knowing if there is any software available that can better integrated to sdruno / sdrplay without need to have the virtual audio cable. I'm interested in data modes and also decoding CW as a long time serving failed CW operator.

Regards Chris / M0KLF

Hello Chris,

I run Windows 7 and had the same issue. In order to listen to the audio going into the virtual audio cable you have to set the checkmark labeled 'Listen to this Device' in the properties of your recording device:

As of now I have only come accross decoding software that works via audio cable, here is a nice list:
http://www.bdxc.nl/radio-software/

And here is a site where you can id the mode using the image in the waterfall display:

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the quick replies and you were spot on regarding the (Listen To this Device). I probably would never have found this check box as the audio preference appear to to be eveywhere. I will have to look at paying the subcription for VAC as you get an anoying android lady voice asking tyo upgrade avery 5 seconds.

I will be checking out the those links.

Many May Thanks PA1LEX and F6CRP

hope to get you in the log soon.

Best regards Chris / M0KLF

Oops - I think i must have deleted my last post.

Many thanks for the replies. You were correct it was the 'Listen to this Device' box that I needed to Check and now all works. I have also installed a new virtual order cable that is free. Note the VAC cabled also worked fine but you have to pay for it.

I have posted the link below for the free one. I have only tested this with SharpSDR but no doupt the setup for SDRuno would be the same and it works very well. I have tested it with FLdigi

Well done and thanks again for your post and advice.
