API 3.0 (service based) Released for Windows

Post by sdrplay » Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:41 am

We are pleased to announce the release of the service based API (v3.0) for Windows. Non-Windows platform support is currently being worked on and will be released as soon as it is available.

The service based API is a new system that was designed to not only support our latest device which has dual time and phase synchronous outputs, the RSPduo, but all RSPs. The service manages all RSPs in a pool and delivers the streams to the relevant application.

For developers, this will require a different methodology and approach from the previous versions of the API, but we have provided documentation and example code to help with that learning curve.

We will continue to support the 2.x version of the API. A new version will be available shortly to include single tuner mode support for the RSPduo. The 2.x API will NOT be able to take advantage of the dual tuner functionality of the RSPduo, but will support single tuner functionality on all RSPs, including the RSPduo (in this mode, the RSPduo behaves like a RSP2).

The API installation and the API documentation can be found on our downloads page (https://www.sdrplay.com/downloads)

We have also added the example code from the specification to our github repository (https://github.com/SDRplay/examples)

Any questions or issues with the API usage or the API documentation can be sent to software@sdrplay.com
