Overload

I just put an FM echolink simplex node on the 2 meter VHF band. The link, on low power, is 6 watts output. I'm still having overload issues with sdruno. Any settings I should have set to avoid overloading the SDRPLAY? I haven't tried it yet, but I'm thinking I'll have to put at least a 10db RF attenuator inline.
Any remarks greatly appreciated.
