RSP2 USB failure?

Post by vk7jj » Wed Nov 22, 2017 10:39 pm

Sadly my RSP2 died this morning, one moment the 40m band was alive and the SDRUno waterfall was happily recording that fact, next moment it locked up.

No transmissions involved, just looking round the bands as usual.

Turns out that the RSP2 no longer shows up on any of my computer's USB bus.

Of course things do just "die" but does anyone else have any similar experiences or thoughts?

I'm feeling totally bereft!

Just a closing note to say thank you so much to everyone at SRDPlay who were not just quick and efficient but went out of their way to be as helpful as possible, and thank you for the unanticipated resolution, it is much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Phil

Hi Lou,

Sorry if my post sounded cryptic, the answer is warranty ... https://www.sdrplay.com/community/viewt ... f=6&t=2695

I didn't think about warranty; after the RSP2 died I missed it so much I ordered an RSP1A from Strictly Ham which I now have and can say it performs beautifully.

Meanwhile SDRPlay tech support was working through the USB issue even during their 2am wee hours - don't know how they manage that, maybe have some other time zone support or remain sleepless - and offered to replace the RSP2 under warranty and have despatched a replacement.

I've never experienced better service than they've given, and their sales & supply network even has the latest product on the shelf in Australia so soon after release.
