Does anyone still have an FT-1000MP Mk V in use with an SDR Play RSP1?

If I just hook an antenna into the RX IN jack and the RSP1 into the RX OUT jack, that should work, right? It doesn't. I get no change to the waterfall versus having no antenna plugged in.

I searched the forum and found a link to a video that uses a Diamond SS500 to hook up the RSP1. I have questions on if that works and if so how. Do I don't have an SS500 or similar device, but want to use my RSP1 with the FT-1000.

Any advice is appreciated.
