Updated API/EXTIO and ADS-B

I am running the RSP in an ADS-B setup on the Raspberry Pi 3, Feeding both FlightAware and Flight Radar.
I have installed installed sdrplay_dump1090 according to the instructions on this page.

My question is:
Are the updated API/EXTIO relevant for me, if yes, how do i update on the RPI3?

If you just want to use ADS-B (dump1090) then you already have what you need.

The updated API is for other applications as the ADS-B already has elements of it.
