It's amazing. There's a temptation to think that LW signals are very stable and not affected much by conditions because of their low frequency, but things like this make you think again!

Local and regional noise levels were low. No crashes heard here from thunderstorm activity. There was also a sunspot facing earth yesterday that raised the solar flux somewhat. I wonder if that could have been a factor? 2019 has seen 48 days with no sunspots facing earth according to Spaceweather.com.

Are you sure this is not RTE Radio 1 from Ireland which also transmits on 252Khz?

Besides, the Algerians are transmitting with 1500 kW - yes, that's 1.5 megawatt - or 750 kW during nighttime and RTÉ with 'a mere' 300 kW.
