DC voltage for active antenna?

Post by matt » Fri Mar 11, 2016 7:29 pm

Just wondering if the SDRplay antenna connector contains a DC voltage suitable for powering an active antenna. I want to do some GPS experimenting using SDRplay and need to figure out a good antenna -- I already have an active antenna for GPS that requires +5 volts.

Advice much appreciated.

No, unfortunately it doesn't. The antenna connector is simply capacitively coupled to the input circuitry. It shouldn't be too difficult to design a dc filter with rf chokes to isolate the rf from the dc source.
