I wonder if those two loops could be drawn in towards each other so it would only be 1 meter (and change) in width and height? It would look more like a ball than a twisted figure eight.

The preamp can be switched for all possible loop configurations, loop A or loop B alone, crossed loops, dipole. You'll find all the details on the seller's website.
