Decoding POCSAG

Post by VK7MA » Fri Jan 18, 2019 6:14 am

Hi all,
I am trying to decode POCSAG with SDRUno and PDW without success. I can do it via SDR Console so I know my VAC etc is setup correctly.
I have disabled de emphasis, any noise blankers and AGC. I am also using NFM with 16k wide filter.
Does anyone have any tips?
Thanks

Martin.

OK, I figured it out.
Posted in case others have trouble.
It works with the de emphasis turned on and set to 75us. Also had AGC on fast.
Once audio levels were set correctly, 100% decode.

Hope this helps someone else.

Cheers, Martin.

Thanks for posting this, Martin. I had almost given up on using SDRUno as the source for paging signals (Flex and Pocsag). Flex was OK (not great) but Pocsag was very poor.

I ended up using SdrDx on my FCDPro+ and this gave great results on both Flex and Pocsag.

Having just tried your suggestion of deemphasis at 75us, SDRUno is now giving similarly good results on Pocsag. Interesting that SDRPlay's own video instructs that deemphasis should be off
